As a landscape photographer, visiting and exploring Greenland was high on my list. While I am a very experienced traveler and outdoor person, I knew I could use some professional help when I visited Greenland for the first time this summer.
We did some google search and found Tasermiut Fjord. I have to admitted that initially I was a little bit skeptical, since the company were relatively young and unknown. However, communication with them (Freddy was our main contact person) was excellent. The moment we met Freddy at the helicopter landing site (I will not call it an airport), I knew we could completely trust him. The next few days, Freddy and his crew went to several camping sites with us. They setup a sturdy and roomy tent for us (with a heater inside!). They helped us carrying heavy camera gears from the boat to the camp site. They showed us many possible locations, and they were so flexible to change the itinerary to fit my need.
One night, while camping on a very remote place under towering peaks, they even caught some arctic char and cooked a beautiful dinner, decorated with wildflowers, while we were exploring the wilderness. This was totally unexpected. What an unforgettable and surprise experience.
Folks at Tasermiut Fjord are friendly, caring and professional. I have used many service contractors when I travel and photograph around the world, and they are among the very best.
Our trip to south Greenland was in a spectacular league of its own compared to previous journeys. Salik was our guide over the course of several weeks, and readily planned the tour based on both our preconcieved and spontaneous wishes. We were exposed to a variety of unbelieveable landscapes and nature, and besides visiting some interesting historical and cultural sites en route. Salik is good company, knowledgeable on local wildlife and fouraging, a responsible navigator, and a really great cook. Absolute highligts from the trip include: 3-day hike off Tasermiut fjord, local sheep hearding, catching (and eating) trouts barehand.
